Engine Auto Stop-Start

Suzuki Easy Start System
When starting the engine on a regular motorcycle, the rider must press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-α) groups together five advanced electronic control systems while enabling riders to select individual settings for each. It optimizes performance characteristics and behavior to best suit varying road surfaces, riding conditions and preferred riding styles. Experiment with the different settings and benefit from the feedback each offers to hone your riding skills and build greater confidence while enjoying the ultimate riding experience. In addition to three factory presets, (A, B, C), SDMS-α offers a choice between three user-defined groups of settings (U1, U2, U3).

Anti-lift Control System
Suzuki has successfully developed an advanced system that maximizes acceleration performance while preventing the front wheel from lifting off the ground. The system offers a choice of 10 mode settings when turned on, with Mode 1 providing minimal control and Mode 10 making it virtually impossible to lift the front wheel, even when fully opening the throttle with a passenger on the back.

Engine Brake Control System
This system cancels out the effect of engine braking to suppress rear tire sliding or skipping and provide smoother, more controllable behavior. A choice of three modes plus an OFF setting let you control the effective strength of engine
braking to match riding conditions or your preference.

Active Speed Limiter
A first in the motorcycle industry, this system lets you set a speed you do not wish to exceed and then accelerate and decelerate as you please up to that speed. This helps lessen worries about the bike exceeding your chosen speed limit.

Hill Hold Control System
When the vehicle stops on an upward slope and applies the brakes, this system automatically operates the rear brake for around 30 seconds to prevent the vehicle from backing down the hill even if the rider releases the brake lever/pedal. This allows the rider to focus on a smooth start on a hill.

Emergency Stop Signal
Another first on a motorcycle in Suzuki, this function rapidly flashes the front and rear turn signals to alert following vehicles if you brake suddenly at speeds of 55 km/h or higher. Note: Emergency Stop Signal is not available on North American, Indian or Canadian specification units

Power Mode Selector
Select between three different engine output modes that control power delivery to match road and riding conditions. Mode 1 provides the sharpest throttle response and delivers maximum power. It’s a solid choice for the experienced rider out for a sporty run. Mode 2 provides softer throttle response and more linear power delivery. That makes it a practical mode for daily riding. Mode 3 provides the softest throttle response and features a more gentle power curve with reduced maximum output. It’s well suited to riding on wet or slippery roads, or while still getting used to the potential of the Ultimate Sport Bike.

Bi-Directional Quick
Shift System
The system automatically interrupts power delivery just long enough—between 50 and 75 milliseconds, depending upon the sensitivity adjustment—to unload the transmission gear dogs and allow a clean upshift, producing smoother, almost uninterrupted acceleration. For quicker and smoother downshifts without manually blipping the throttle twist grip or using the clutch, the system automatically opens the throttle valves just enough to increase rpm and match engine speed to the next-lower gear ratio.

Motion Track Traction
Control System
Suzuki’s advanced Motion Track Traction Control System(TCS) allows the rider to select different levels of traction control intervention, depending upon road or racetrack conditions as well as personal preference and experience level. The Motion Track TCS continuously monitors front and rear wheel speed, throttle position, crankshaft position, gear position and motorcycle motion, and quickly reduces engine power output when a loss of traction is detected or predicted. Power output is controlled by managing ignition timing and throttle valve position.

Slope Dependent Control
System
The Slope Dependent Control System constantly monitors the posture of the vehicle even when the vehicle is traveling downhill. When the rider operates the brake lever or pedal on a downhill, the electronic control unit controls brake pressure to prevent rear wheel lift.

Load Dependent Control
System
This system supports optimal braking in response to load conditions. The system constantly learns changes in the braking deceleration through the input of hydraulic pressure as the load increases or decreases when riding with a load or in tandem.

Antilock Brake System
An electrically controlled Antilock Brake System (ABS) that produces stable braking force under various road surface conditions. The system helps avoid wheel locking when there is a sudden change in road surface during braking or when an excessive braking force is applied. The system monitors wheel speed, and matches stopping power to available traction. * ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. Please always ride at a safe speed for road and weather conditions, including while cornering.

This system allows the rider to select 2 levels of ABS intervention.
Mode 1 gives minimal intervention. Mode 2 gives more
intervention than Mode 1.

Rear ABS Off mode is offered to improve performance on gravel and other unpaved surfaces by switching off rear ABS.

Combined Brake System
Suzuki’s Combined Brake System supports well-balanced braking by distributing braking force to both the front and rear wheels when the left brake lever is operated.
* The Combined Brake System is intended only to assist braking operation. We strongly recommend that riders normally use both brake levers to control the front and rear brakes when braking.

Launch Control System
Launch control system makes it easier for a racer to get a good start in closed-course competition by automatically limiting engine rpm and optimizing torque delivery while the rider holds the throttle twist grip wide open and concentrates on feeding in the clutch lever.

Suzuki Easy Start System
On a normal motorcycle when starting the engine, the rider needs to press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. With the Suzuki Easy Start, all you need to do is one quick push of the starter switch, just like starting a modern car engine. The ECM recognizes the signals and keeps the starter motor working for a specified time.

Silent Starter System
The Silent Starter System quietly starts the engine and works in conjunction with the idling stop function of EASS to restart it when you turn the throttle to resume riding. The engine comes to life smoothly, as if it had been running the entire time, providing a more refined riding experience.

Engine Auto Stop-Start
The Engine Auto Stop-Start (EASS) system automatically shuts down and restarts the engine to reduce the amount of time it idles when stopped. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions, so proves highly beneficial when stopping for traffic lights or riding in stop-and-go traffic.
* EASS only functions when the following conditions are met: the engine is sufficiently warm, the battery is in good condition, the side stand is stowed, and the scooter has reached a speed of at least 10 km/h while running.
* Starting the engine requires the ignition to be turned on and the starter button pressed while squeezing the brake lever and with the side stand stowed.

Low RPM Assist
Low RPM Assist uses the ISC mechanism to help raise engine rpm slightly in launching and riding at low speed. This new feature helps smoother operation when pulling away and when riding at slow speeds, this means it’s easier to pull away and easier to control the engine in stop-start traffic.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) system allows the rider to select one of three fuel injection and ignition system maps (2maps in case of GSX-R750/600), adjusting power delivery to suit personal preference in various riding situations, such as different racetracks or tight, twisty roads. The feature helps rider to enjoy the performance in a wider range of riding situations.

Motion Track Brake System
“Motion Track Brake System” by installing a Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), and by combining the information of the posture of the vehicle with the front and rear wheel speeds, have made it possible for the ABS to activate not only in a straight line but also when the vehicle is leaning to either side.

Traction Control System
Suzuki’s traction control system continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and gear position sensor, and quickly reduces engine output when wheel spin is detected. Engine output is controlled by managing ignition timing and air delivery to ensure smoother traction control operation. As a results rider can enjoy long distance riding more comfortable, with less stress and fatigue.

Gravel mode
G (Gravel) mode setting retards ignition timing to help you better negotiate gravel roads by allowing some slip when riding on unpaved surfaces. As a result, the bike remains controllable and you still get the consistent power output you want. Gravel mode promotes greater confidence and makes it more exciting and enjoyable to explore unpaved roads and country trails.

Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control
Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control(S-HAC) automatically adapts to provide the quickest and strongest possible drive forward. The system returns the ignition timing to normal operation six seconds after launch, when the rider shifts into fifth gear, or when the throttle is closed, giving the rider ample time to bust out of the gate and toward the first turn.

Cruise Control System
The cruise control system maintains the set speed without the rider having to operate the throttle-a feature for long-distance touring that helps reduce rider fatigue.

Smartphone Connectivity
Hardware and software work in close concert to provide easy access to information and content from the rider’s smartphone. Connecting a phone with the free SUZUKI mySPIN app installed transfers its display to the bike’s LCD screen, where the rider’s contacts, maps, music, calendar and phone functions are presented with a familiar look and feel.

Broad Power System
The Suzuki Racing VVT (SR-VVT), Suzuki Exhaust Tuning-Alpha (SET-A), and Suzuki Top Feed Injector (S-TFI) systems combine to make the Broad Power System, increasing high-rpm performance without reducing low and mid-range performance. The result is strong, linear power and enhanced acceleration throughout the rpm range

Suzuki Exhaust Tuning Alpha
Suzuki Exhaust Tuning Alpha(SET-A) butterfly valve operated by servo motor in each header balance tube remains closed to enhance lower-rpm and mid-range power, then opens to increase volume, reduce back pressure and work with pressure waves to add significant power at higher rpm.

Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System
The Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System (SAIS) uses an electronic identification system in the owner’s key to prevent unauthorized people from starting the engine.

Suzuki Side Feed Injector
Suzuki Side Feed Injectors (S-SFI) feature a new dual injector design that positions the secondary injector so its spray strikes a reflecting plate in the funnel and enters the combustion chamber as a fine mist. This combines with the increased capacity of a new air cleaner and longer intake pipe design to optimize low- to mid-range power output and make the Hayabusa more controllable in typical daily riding situations.

Suzuki Exhaust Tuning
Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system, which uses a servo-controlled butterfly valve to modify back pressure and tune the pipe to match engine rpm. At lower rpm, the valve closes, increasing back pressure and improving low-end torque. The valve progressively opens as engine speed increases, reducing back pressure and increasing midrange and high-rpm power

Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System
Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel-injection system. In SDTV induction system, each throttle body barrel has two butterfly valves, a primary valve controlled by the twist grip and a secondary valve controlled by the ECM based on engine rpm, gear selection and the position of the primary valve. The secondary butterfly valve opens and closes to maintain ideal intake air velocity, improving high combustion efficiency, thus resulting in a linear throttle response, increased low-to-mid range torque.

Suzuki Ram Air-Direct
The Suzuki Ram Air-Direct (SRAD) air intakes are positioned close to the centerline of the fairing nose – the position offering optimum intake efficiency. This results in better intake efficiency, increase engine power in high speed.

Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material
Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing.

Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing
Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing (SR-VVT) System developed for Moto GP racing. Unlike complicated variable valve timing systems used by other manufactures, the SR-VVT is simpler, more compact, lighter and more positive. The centrifugally operated system is built into the intake cam sprocket and an adjacent guide plate, using 12 steel balls and slanted grooves to rotate the sprocket and retard the intake valve timing at a pre-set rpm, adding significantly to high-rpm power.

Suzuki Top Feed Injector
Suzuki Top Feed Injector (S-TFI) ― is mounted in the top of the airbox, directly over each throttle body velocity stack, and operates at higher rpm. The TFI showerhead injector delivers fuel in an optimized spray pattern designed to enhance combustion efficiency, throttle response and top-end power.

Dual Spark Technology
Each cylinder head is equipped with two iridium spark plugs. The ignition timing is controlled independently contributing to high combustion efficiency, higher power output, a more linear throttle response, easier engine startup and a more stable idle.

Suzuki Dual-Stage Intake
Suzuki Dual-Stage Intake (S-DSI) system delivers the advantages of variable-length intake funnels (also known as velocity stacks) without the extra weight and complexity. Two of the four intake funnels use a new stacked, dual-stage design, with a longer funnel positioned above a short funnel, and a gap between the two parts.

Suzuki Cross Balancer
The first biaxial primary balancer on a production motorcycle to position its two balancers at 90° to the crankshaft*, this patented** mechanism suppresses vibration to contribute to smooth operation, while its design also helps realize a lighter powerplant that is more compact from front to rear.

Suzuki Clutch Assist System
Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) – a back-torque-limiting clutch helps make downshifts smoother, assists the rider in taking control in deceleration. Ramped engagement cams built into the clutch hub decrease force on the clutch plates under deceleration by pushing up against the pressure plate, allowing the plates to slip at a controlled rate.

Automatic Rear Suspension Modes
The rear suspension spring preload is electronically controlled and offers four selectable modes. The AUTO mode features an auto-leveling function that detects changes in the chassis posture when occupants or gear are added or removed, and automatically compensates the preload accordingly. Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension
The Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES) uses information such as the IMU to instantly determine the optimal damping based on the suspension stroke speed and riding conditions to achieve an ideal ride quality. In addition, Suzuki’s unique program electronically controls the amount of suspension damping and preload in response to vehicle speed, road conditions, and changes in vehicle attitude due to braking, providing a comfortable and easy to control ride that covers everything from sport riding to touring.

Suzuki Traction Control System
Suzuki’s traction control system continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and gear position sensor, and quickly reduces engine output when wheel spin is detected. Engine output is controlled by managing ignition timing and air delivery to ensure smoother traction control operation. As a results rider can enjoy long distance riding more comfortable, with less stress and fatigue.

Smart TLR (Traction, Lift and Roll Torque) Control integrates the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) with Lift Limiter and Roll Torque Control, enabling the rider to better control the bike under diverse and varying conditions.

Roll Torque Control
Roll Torque Control is an intelligent system that, based on data received from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, calculates the bike’s lean angle and speed to predetermine what level of power output and acceleration is optimal for a given corner. It then reduces torque output before the motorcycle exceeds the amount of power the system deems necessary to clear the corner effectively. The result is an extra layer of preemptive protection that operates silently in the background, with its settings being determined by the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) level setting.

Active Damping Control
The Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES) for GSX-S1000GX has four electronically controlled damping settings: “H” (Hard), “M” (Medium), “S” (Soft) and a customizable “U” (User), with each mode controlled to reproduce specified damping characteristics depending on the suspension stroke speed. If you want to customize the user mode settings, you can choose from hard, medium, and soft basic settings, and adjust the front and back settings individually in increments of ±3.

Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilization
Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilization (SRAS) is Suzuki’s original program that detects uneven road surfaces based on input from the IMU and wheel speed sensors. On normal road surfaces, the motorcycle uses suspension settings that emphasize responsiveness. However, when the SRAS detects the road surface to have changed to uneven, SRAS automatically triggers stronger Suzuki Floating Ride Control (SFRC) to help smooth out the ride and adjusts the Electronic Throttle Valve settings to deliver softer, more controllable throttle response.
