GSX-S1000GX
The Supreme Sport Crossover
The GSX-S1000GX is an exciting new model that represents Suzuki’s vision of what a luxury crossover bike should off er. Strategically combining the best attributes of sport and adventure tourers, the “GX” delivers the versatility of a bike built to be comfortable, controllable and equally adept at satisfying the rider, whether enjoying an aggressive sport run or touring long distances on most any kind of road.
Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system, which uses a servo-controlled butterfly valve to modify back pressure and tune the pipe to match engine rpm. At lower rpm, the valve closes, increasing back pressure and improving low-end torque. The valve progressively opens as engine speed increases, reducing back pressure and increasing midrange and high-rpm power
The rear suspension spring preload is electronically controlled and offers four selectable modes. The AUTO mode features an auto-leveling function that detects changes in the chassis posture when occupants or gear are added or removed, and automatically compensates the preload accordingly. When set to AUTO, front and rear damping will also be adjusted automatically. If you prefer, you can choose from three manual modes (Single Rider, Single Rider + Gear, Tandem).
Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing.
Butterfly valves on the throttle bodies are controlled by an advanced electronic engine management system.
Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) - a back-torque-limiting clutch helps make downshifts smoother, assists the rider in taking control in deceleration. Ramped engagement cams built into the clutch hub decrease force on the clutch plates under deceleration by pushing up against the pressure plate, allowing the plates to slip at a controlled rate.
The system automatically interrupts power delivery just long enough—between 50 and 75 milliseconds, depending upon the sensitivity adjustment—to unload the transmission gear dogs and allow a clean upshift, producing smoother, almost uninterrupted acceleration. For quicker and smoother downshifts without manually blipping the throttle twist grip or using the clutch, the system automatically opens the throttle valves just enough to increase rpm and match engine speed to the next-lower gear ratio.
The Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES) uses information such as the IMU to instantly determine the optimal damping based on the suspension stroke speed and riding conditions to achieve an ideal ride quality. In addition, Suzuki’s unique program electronically controls the amount of suspension damping and preload in response to vehicle speed, road conditions, and changes in vehicle attitude due to braking, providing a comfortable and easy to control ride that covers everything from sport riding to touring.
Smart Cruise Control maintains a set speed without a rider operating the throttle. And it does this while allowing you to perform clutch-free gear shifts using the Bi-directional Quick Shift System without cancelling cruise control.
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-α) groups together various advanced electronic control systems while enabling riders to select individual settings for each. It optimizes performance characteristics and behavior to best suit varying road surfaces, riding conditions and preferred riding styles. Experiment with the different settings and benefit from the feedback each offers to hone your riding skills and build greater confidence while enjoying the ultimate riding experience.
“Motion Track Brake System” by installing a Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), and by combining the information of the posture of the vehicle with the front and rear wheel speeds, have made it possible for the ABS to activate not only in a straight line but also when the vehicle is leaning to either side.
Select between three different engine output modes that control power delivery to match road and riding conditions. Mode 1 provides the sharpest throttle response and delivers maximum power. It’s a solid choice for the experienced rider out for a sporty run. Mode 2 provides softer throttle response and more linear power delivery. That makes it a practical mode for daily riding. Mode 3 provides the softest throttle response and features a more gentle power curve with reduced maximum output. It’s well suited to riding on wet or slippery roads, or while still getting used to the potential of the Ultimate Sport Bike.
The Slope Dependent Control System constantly monitors the posture of the vehicle even when the vehicle is traveling downhill. When the rider operates the brake lever or pedal on a downhill, the electronic control unit controls brake pressure to prevent rear wheel lift.
Smart TLR (Traction, Lift and Roll Torque) Control integrates the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) with Lift Limiter and Roll Torque Control, enabling the rider to better control the bike under diverse and varying conditions.
When starting the engine on a regular motorcycle, the rider must press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. With the Suzuki Easy Start System, you only need to turn the key and release it, and the starter stays engaged until the engine starts. This system offers a smoother start to the engine.
Suzuki’s traction control system continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and gear position sensor, and quickly reduces engine output when wheel spin is detected. Engine output is controlled by managing ignition timing and air delivery to ensure smoother traction control operation. As a results rider can enjoy long distance riding more comfortable, with less stress and fatigue.
Low RPM Assist uses the ISC mechanism to help raise engine rpm slightly in launching and riding at low speed. This new feature helps smoother operation when pulling away and when riding at slow speeds, this means it’s easier to pull away and easier to control the engine in stop-start traffic.
Lift Limiter brings added peace of mind by helping prevent the front wheel from lifting off the ground when accelerating. It operates silently in the background, with the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) level setting determining the level of intervention.
Hardware and software work in close concert to provide easy access to information and content from the rider’s smartphone. Connecting a phone with the free SUZUKI mySPIN app installed transfers its display to the bike’s LCD screen, where the rider’s contacts, maps, music, calendar and phone functions are presented with a familiar look and feel.
Roll Torque Control is an intelligent system that, based on data received from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, calculates the bike’s lean angle and speed to predetermine what level of power output and acceleration is optimal for a given corner. It then reduces torque output before the motorcycle exceeds the amount of power the system deems necessary to clear the corner effectively. The result is an extra layer of preemptive protection that operates silently in the background, with its settings being determined by the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) level setting.
An electrically controlled Antilock Brake System (ABS) that produces stable braking force under various road surface conditions. The system helps avoid wheel locking when there is a sudden change in road surface during braking or when an excessive braking force is applied. The system monitors wheel speed, and matches stopping power to available traction. * ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. Please always ride at a safe speed for road and weather conditions, including while cornering.
The Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES) for GSX-S1000GX has four electronically controlled damping settings: “H” (Hard), “M” (Medium), “S” (Soft) and a customizable “U” (User), with each mode controlled to reproduce specified damping characteristics depending on the suspension stroke speed. If you want to customize the user mode settings, you can choose from hard, medium, and soft basic settings, and adjust the front and back settings individually in increments of ±
The Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System (SAIS) uses an electronic identification system in the owner’s key to prevent unauthorized people from starting the engine.
Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilization (SRAS) is Suzuki’s original program that detects uneven road surfaces based on input from the IMU and wheel speed sensors. On normal road surfaces, the motorcycle uses suspension settings that emphasize responsiveness. However, when the SRAS detects the road surface to have changed to uneven, SRAS automatically triggers stronger Suzuki Floating Ride Control (SFRC) to help smooth out the ride and adjusts the Electronic Throttle Valve settings to deliver softer, more controllable throttle response
Only models with European specifications comply with the EURO 5 emission regulations.
