Suzuki Helps Aids and Rebuilds in Majayjay Laguna

Team Suzuki with Sta. Lucia Raiders Club (SLRC) took a different kind of weekend adventure to touch the lives of the students of Munting Kawayan Elementary School in Majayjay Laguna. Following Suzuki Philippines charity ride campaign “Ride More, Protect More, Love More with Suzuki” under its Corporate Social Responsibility Program Suzuki Helps, Aids, and Rebuilds (SHARE) which kicked off earlier this year, Suzuki hit the road again for a charity ride with a group of Raider R150 owners – Sta. Lucia Raiders Club (SLRC). For four consecutive years, SLRC was regularly conducting a bi-annual ride-for-a-cause to give back to the underprivileged sector in Manila but this time they have decided to touch-base to a farther small community of Majayjay in Laguna where educational support is infrequent.

The hundred-kilometer-route started early morning in Pasig City wherein more than 20 riders relied with their dependable and powerful Raider R150 for the whole trip. All elated to spend the day with the kids of Kawayan Elementary School, SLRC took off before the crack of dawn and ascended in the twisties of Antipolo, Rizal and headed down to Laguna. After two hours, they made a quick stopover for breakfast and rode again for another hour to reach the humble school of the kids. Upon reaching the destination, all of the students were already lined up and in all smiles waiting for Team Suzuki. Due to lack of facilities in the area, the donation turnover happened at the stairs of the school but this did not hinder the team in facilitating the program. It was heartwarming to see the true spirit of bayanihan while the SLRC riders were handing over the supplies to more than 240 students in the school. Each student received a drawstring bag with their basic school needs (paper, pencil, ruler, crayons and pen) and medical supplies. SLRC also prepared a bountiful snack for the students and school staff.

The short program was also co-facilitated by the faculty of the school and barangay headed by Principal Angelita M. Viñas and Brgy. Captain Nicanor Esteban who warmly welcomed SLRC. JL Martinez Trading also took part in contributing financially to SLRC to make the charity ride possible. SLRC President Mr. Jonathan Demigilo believed that the donation will go a long way and can contribute to the success of students of Munting Kawayan Elementary School.
