Suzuki, in partnership with one of its valued dealers – Wheeltek Motor Sales Corporation is set to conquer the Philippine Superbikes Racing scene with the Suzuki GSX-R1000R featuring one of the country’s most promising young riders – Jacq Buncio. Following the public launch hosted by both Wheeltek and Suzuki on March 24 at the 12th Inside Racing Bike Festival and Tradeshow, the two hosted a more intimate gathering for the media to further discuss their plans on this partnership aptly called Unfinished Business at the Suzuki Big Bikes Center Makati.

This alliance aims to continue the winning story that Suzuki and the legendary Maico Buncio started in 2009. The late Maico Buncio was the strongest rider that the country has seen so far with his participation at the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) Supersports 600 category.  Jacq is Maico’s youngest sister – a 17 year old senior high student at Angelicum College has already committed herself to racing. She expressed how she wanted to fulfil her destiny in this craft and also believes that her brother is proud and is with her in this endeavour.

Jacq will be racing the PSBK 2018 Series aboard the Suzuki GSX-R1000R, the same machine that Team Suzuki Ecstar is using in the MotoGP. When the machine was launched in 2017, Ka Yoyong has been looking forward to its introduction in the country and when it arrived, he did not waste time to have it tested by his young daughter.

“The Suzuki GSX-R1000R is so lightweight even a 17 year old can handle it well,” these are the words of Gregorio “Ka Yoyong” Buncio about the 6th generation and the latest GSX sportbike which his daughter Jacq Buncio will use at the Pirelli Superbike Heavyweight A category at the PSBK this year.

Suzuki, Wheeltek and the Buncio’s partnership goes beyond business in fact they consider each other family. “I remember Ka Yoyong coming to our place to spend some time after practicing so they are really considered as family.”, Wheeltek’s VP for Sales and Marketing Roscoe Odulio added.

“That was the beginning of it all. Jacq tried the GSX-R1000R and everything came to place with us and Suzuki, giving our full support to her dreams,” Wheeltek’s Big Bikes General Manager Bobby Orbe said during the talk.

“We are confident that Jacq’s talent combined with the power and performance of the GSX-R1000R coupled with the strong passion of Wheeltek in racing is the perfect formula for us to win in the Superbikes category,” Hiroshi Suzuki, Suzuki Philippines President added.

It is going to be an exciting Superbikes season with these 3 names in the motorcycle industry’s collaboration. Also present in the presscon were Wheeltek’s Marketing Manager Mark Chuidian and Suzuki Philippines Senior Marketing Supervisor Mariane Dela Cruz.
