A Record Breaking Supremacy: Raider Summit 2017

When a King celebrates, it will certainly be huge and when you say it is Suzuki’s Raider R150, then it is surely record-breaking. Suzuki Philippines and its over 6100 riders rocked the World Trade Center Manila and the world literally; by breaking the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title – Largest road safety lesson alongside the brand’s celebration of the continuous supremacy of the Raider R150 as the undisputed Underbone King.

With unprecedented sales of 30,785 units in 2016 topping the Underbone 150cc category data of the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA), the Suzuki Raider R150 has once again secured its title as the supreme in its class.


The Raider R150 Summit

The event was well attended by more than 96 clubs from all over the Philippines showcasing their very warm support for the brand. In return, the Japanese giant staged the day-long activity dedicated to the Suzuki riders. Among the exciting activities prepared by Suzuki were Custom-bike Contest wherein the edge of the Raider R150 was highlighted as a carburetor motorcycle perfect to be customized and modified. Hailed as the winners were Mr. Johnie Ray Nabua for the Best Custom-bike title, Mr.  Oliver Villasis for Best Concept Bike and Riders Choice award for the same category and Mr. Mark Evaristo for the Best in Engine Set-up. The Best Chrome went to Ms. Lovely Kailah Lademora who was also hailed as the Media Choice. The Best Paint went to Mr. Joel Clarete. For the Riders’ Choice Mr. Jerson Delos Reyes took home the title for Custom-bike and Mr. John Benedict Ibasco for the Engine Set-up.

The very popular Astig Rider, Biker Babe, Best Couple Rider were also presented and won by Mr. Emmanuel Jojo Amora, Ms. Diana Marie Banaticla and Mr. Wilson De Leon & Ms. Erdiza Barcelona who got engaged at the event won the titles respectively. Dancing to the tune of the new Raider R150 jingle, Club Suzuki Raider Jr. Philippines won in Show Me the Moves.

The highly coveted Club Awards namely Biggest Delegation, Farthest Delegation, Earliest Delegation for both Raider and Non-Raider clubs and chapters went to; Raider Clubs Category – Biggest Delegation (Group) Raider Owners Club, Inc. while the one for Chapter went to Reborn 150 Philippines, Farthest Delegation was awarded to Suzuki Raider R150 Pangasinan while the Earliest Delegation went to the Raider 150 Alliance Owners Alliance Philippines. For Non-Raider Category – the Biggest Delegation (Group) went to the Skydrive Nation, Biggest Delegation for Chapter was awarded to the Smash 115 Club Philippines while the Farthest Delegation went to Skydrive Nation Olongapo.

Games, Raffle, Free Service and Bike Wash were also given as a treat to the riders. And not only that because Suzuki trade partners – Gatorade, IRC Tire, Manila Tactical, MotoActive, Metzeler, MotoWorld, NGK Spark Plugs, NHK Helmets, PacSafe, Pepsi, Racing Boy, RK Racing Chain and Sprocket, Shield, Spyder and XSpeed as well as Suzuki Genuine Parts (SGP) all gave great deals to the attendees at the trade show! Two lucky riders took home the brand new Raider R150 namely at the grand raffle draw.

The power and performance of the Raider R150 was also highlighted at the event when Team Suzuki Pilipinas was presented on stage together with their historical achievements at the Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC) 2016. SAC is Suzuki’s developmental program to produce future MotoGP champions featuring a single-make competition among Asian nations. The team had been giving the country back-to-back-back wins which include 2-time championship titles in one of the rounds of the said race.

A Record-breaking History

One of the main highlights of the gathering was Suzuki Philippines’ record-breaking success by placing a new Guinness World Records™ title for the Largest road safety lesson with 4178 number of participants.

“We have been creating history for the Philippines with our monumental wins at the Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC). This time we would like to highlight our commitment to safety riding which is the core of our business. Setting the Philippines in world history books is one achievement that is an honor for Suzuki to host and a Guinness World Records title for the Largest road safety lesson is a testament to this,” Suzuki Philippines President Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki said in an interview.

“We would like to make a socially relevant record and the Guinness World Records title for Largest road safety lesson is the most fitted for Suzuki,” Mr. Monch Bontogon, Marketing Manager for Motorcycle Marketing Department added.

The Guinness World Records title for Largest safety riding lesson was awarded by Guinness World Records adjudicator Mr. Swapnil Dangarikar at the event. Serving as witnesses to this were LTO Director for Law Enforcement Service Mr. Francis Rey Almora, Motorsiklo Xklusibo’s Main Anchor Mr. Edwin Go and InsideRACING Magazine’s Editor in Chief Mr. Al Camba.

The Supremacy Continues

Making the event even more special was the presence of Ms. Roxee B. who hosted the whole gathering and spiced it up with a sizzling presentation. Adding the icing to the cake was the sexy Ms. Kim Domingo who danced to the tune of the latest jingle for the Raider R150 and gave a song number which delighted the riders even more. Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki also gave a very special song and dance number to the delight of the audience.

Present to this momentous occasion were Suzuki executives headed by the President Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, Managing Director Mr. Norminio Mojica, Motorcycle Sales and Marketing General Manager Mr. Jun Bulot and Motorcycle Marketing Head Mr. Monch Bontogon. Special guests from the Land Transportation office were LTO Director for Law Enforcement Service Mr. Francis Rey Almora and Chief of Traffic Safety Development Mr. Roberto Valera. They were joined by Suzuki’s valued partner dealers as well as representatives from the media.

The Raider R150 Summit is just the beginning of a very exciting year for Suzuki Philippines. Expect for more events, showroom expansions and a lot of brand new products from Suzuki in the coming months!
